new owner banshee question
#1
Hello everyone, I just bought a 1998 banshee in mint condition with about 20 hrs on the machine. It seems to run mint but what do I know Ive never owned one before. My question is how hard can you run these machines with out causeing them damage? Ive noticed the power band in each gear, it really kicks in at high rpms and I find myself kepping it in 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and 6th gear maybe too long because the powerband kicks in and i dont wnt to loose that insane boost. Is this bad for the quad or is this normal for banshee's? How do I know when to shift? Am I going to burn out something?
Second question, whats the best protection for a banshee to keep it clean and protect it from rust? I live in massachusetts and it seems like every thing rusts here because of the cold winters and wet summers, ect? Any advice, thanks.

Congratulations on the Banshee! You will not hurt anything by letting it rev up a little high.
The twin cylinder two stroke likes to be reved... It will rev even faster and higher if you install a set of aftermarket pipes on it... As for rust protection I like good o'l WD-40

you need to revvv banshees to make good power, because of their Twin 2-stroke design. if you think it revvs good now, wait unitll you get some aftermarket pipes! that power band will hit twice as hard! As for when to shift, right after the engine makes peek power, you need to ride your quad alot to know when that is.. as for rust, keep it in the garage!!

This is actually my first quad, my buddies always had two so I always used theirs. I use to ride a yamaha 350 wolverine and my other buddy had two 400 ex hondas. I was planning on buying a kawai kfx 400 but I always loved the banshees and when I saw this quad for sale I jumped on it. It has dg pipes, dg mufflers, air brake, steering stabilizer aluminum wheels all around , renthal bars, twist throtle, and it was owned by an older guy who rode it for under 20 hrs. It had its 25 hour service by yamaha and they said it was an wasome quad in amaizing condition, so I bought it. The guy who owned it before kept amaizing care of it always changeing the plugs, oil and filters after every ride, and making sure it was always super clean.

awsome looking 250! I notice you now have a raptor that looks awsome. Have you ever ridden a banshee? I think it has a similr powerband to the banshee? Are the four strokes real quick and fast like the two strokes? Are they as exciteing?

Hey thanks for the reply and thats an awsome looking banshee. Do you clean it after every ride going over every part to keep it looking so clean. I went out on one ride and noticed the grease from the chain was smugged on my frame and some of the plastic and it doesnt come off to easy. Are there any tricks to keeping your quad clean because yours is mint?
