Does anyone know of a substitute for the Polaris AGL? It'd be nice to go to the autoparts store and be able to get something.

That is the over priced tranny/gearcase lube. I stick with the polaris stuff anyways.

 

amsoil has chain case lube for atv's, but u have to find a dealer, my polaris dealer happens to sell amsoil, so thats what I am using now, u can check amsoil web site for a dealer near u, not sure of any others
that are out there.

 

Good synthetic motor oil works just fine.

I use Castrol Syntec 5W50

yup, thats the stuff, I forgot about there online store, I pick mine up when I am at my polaris dealer,

Has anyone else tried running synthetic 5w-50 oil as a subsitute? I have a "wore out" 325 that gets water in the gear case everytime we ride in any water. I will eventually fix the problem and prevent the water from getting into the oil but would like to get through the summer before tearing it down. Right now the oil is getting changed every week and I would like to use the 5w-50 to get me through the rest of the year?

Rather than using the Polaris AGL, you could use any good quality Dextron III ATF - since it's the same lube except for the color.

The last time I changed tranny lube, I added 1 oz of Energy Release to the tranny and then added lube to the full mark. The ER made shifting easier almost instantly and the trans quieted down a lot with just a few miles use.

(FYI, I worked for TEAM Industries for 6.5 years building these transmissions, so I assume to know a little about them).
