Default very happy i still have 686

i got a chance to race several 700r and was not impressed. don't get me wrong they are very nice machines i just expected them to be a little faster. i was gonna sell my 686 on ebay and buy one and I'm glad i didn't. i raced 3 of them with different mods, one had the lid off and the core removed from muffler. i know when pipes and intakes come out it will be faster and please im not trying to upset anyone or start a war on here. allot of people have talked about selling their 686 for the 700 and this is more for them. i could launch on them by about 2 to 3 bikes. they would start to catch up in the middle but once we hit fourth and fifth i would pull on them hard. this is flat dragging on sand.

I think what bl4cksh337 was gittin at was...
Do you think the 700 (686 EFI) ported & Polished with cam and 12:1 plus the fuel / ignition curves remapped. would still be the same outcome.?

Sounds like he's saying whoever has a 686 Raptor that it will probably beat stock 700r's & don't be so excited to sell your quad for the lastest quad right now.....Glad he posted his results of his race with his bike. Good information for the public.

I got a chance to race a 700 with my Rappy 686 also, but I was more impressed. Although I did beat him pretty good, those new 700's have more potential than the old 660's forsure. I feel pretty confidant saying a modded 700 will end up being the faster bike when matched against a similar 660. I'm not only talking about power here either, the handling and ergos are MUCH better than the later models.

Its taken a while for the 660 to get to where it is right now, with an all new head the 700 is at a disadvantage. The 660 is still improving and more powerful bikes are made every couple months. I think it will take a while for the 700 to match the potential of the 660, as to whether it will surpass it I dont feel confident saying one way or another.

Im sure with more compression the 700 will match the 686 but just think it takes a highly modded to surpass a 700 When a whole new cam comes out just think ccgrady ur rappy is modded to the exterm. Now if you were to do that with a 700 the possibitls are huge with the efi mapping. Like just think how bad you kill the stock 660 think of the new rappy as yours i think am beging a little confuseing hope you get wat am saying im guessing you won the new 700 by about 5-6 quad lengths in the end rite?

Stock 660 vs stock 700 it is not even close. Apples to apples.
