I am getting a slighty used 2005 arctic cat 500 manual. This is not my first quad but first arctic cat. I currently own three quads now. I did some searches and only complaint i seen was hard to steer fixed by more air or better tires up front and one guy had rear axle problems. That seems not the norm. My questions is what are the goods and bads of the this quad and what should I watch out for and maintenance tips? Thanks for the help!

 

The 500 manual is probably Arctic Cat's most bullitproof ATV. Only maintenance tip I can think of is to check the battery level, I have had horrible luck with the AC batterys holding water. Every fall I have to add distilled water to them, or they will go dead. Great machine you are getting, good luck and show us some picts when you get it! So i take it by the replies it never breaks or has no weaknesses! I just picked it up last night. Will post pics soon. Havent had time to play with it yet. This quad is Huge! its the first utility I owned. It looks awesome and has every feature that you would want it seems.

 

Nope, no major problems that I've had. Bought my 500i manual back in late 2002. It's been gas and go, and the fall oil change. A real workhorse on the farm, rides like a Cadillac, crawls over just about anything.

Funny thing - now that I think about it, I've never touched the battery on mine. It's getting a little weak after three years.
