Raptor tires for mud and snow
#1
I am in need of some tires for snow and a little mud. I did a search and came up with a couple of options. I have already geared down considerably...12/44 and this gives me plenty of low end grunt so I am sure that i could run 22 inch rears without much of a problem. That would also give me a little top end back (running 20 in holeshot XCRs). I have been thinking of Realtors or Sur Traks in 21 or 22 inch sizes respectively. I could also use the extra ground clearance in the rear. Which of those 2 tires would be the best choice? I can't decide.

I was thinking about blackwaters, but i couldn't find any in the size that i want. I ended up and ordered a set of Realtors. I will get them mounted up and try them out in some mud and post a report on how they work out for me.

I saw a raptor with 22" itp mudlites and believe it or not,,,,they were pretty impressive in the mud for a sportbike
I've got the 22" xcts and they are great for the trails,,,,,but in the Minnesota slop,,,,they would be useless except for maybe summertime when it drys out.
you might want to consider a swingarm skidplate that is articulated around the rotor and chain (as opposed to the one that goes all the way across) so you wont high center as easily (if you dont already have one)

I'll see how the Realtors work for me...if I don't like em, i'll just get different tires. I figure i can never have too many different tires. I think the Realtors are going to be strictly winter/really wet and muddy use tires only. I love the Holeshots, but they don't keep me unstuck good enough.
