Default should I buy a 250r for the woods?

Need input as it has been 10 years since I have ridden. I had a 1986 honda 250r that I ran in the woods, mud, and jumped. I loved the bike. Is there a better 4 wheeler that is close to the style of the 250r I should be looking at ( cannondale, banshee, other? )? Need some help.

I would say a 400ex is closest to a 250r, same frame and all and its a four stroke so you can lug it through the woods and still have something sporty to jump with. There are a lot of great quads out there though that are good for all types of riding, I would look around at different models and maybe test ride some if you could to see what you like and what would be closest to a 250r. Hope this helps.

if you like playing around in the woods and mudding more dont rule out a big bore utility quad. they won't jump at all but power wise they aren't that far behind a sport quad i know my 650 from a stand still just sitting on it i can crack it down and flip it backwards within 10 feet. the only thing is they are heavy but fun in their own ways. if that isn't what you are looking for yamaha yfz 450 would be my choice of sport quads.

IMO, you're not gonna find another bike like the 250R in terms of balance and handling. the 450r is nice in terms of a few tech advances, suspension, and engine, but the closest bike currently on the market to the old R is the YFZ- but i would not get one to play in the mud with. the 400ex, z400, or raptor might be what you want for all round bike. if you want to go mudding then get a utility bike. sport bikes are too low and you will be getting off of it every few minutes getting it unstuck.

ive had a banshee and family members have had several of them and i cant say i would reccomend it for the woods (although some do it) or mud.
