Default 02 Recon swingarm bearings

My 02 Recon needs swing arm bearings. Looking at the Clymer manual they talk about removing the rear axel is this nessary ? Also is there any substitute for the "swingarm locknut wrench" Any help would be appreciated ....

No you dont have to take the axle out. the whole swing arme comes out as a unit. The four pronged wrench can be made with a cheap socket and a disk grinder. Five bucks instead of twenty nine.

Where can I get a Honda Swingarm Locknut Wrench for $29? I called Midwest Action cycle today and they want $55. Are you sure a ground down socket will handle the 80 Ft-lbs of torque? Are you going to weld a handle to the side of the socket, so you can hold the pivot bolt while you torque the locknut? Please respond or email me at matbogbry@yahoo.com.

Thanks,

Mat
