250r vs 250r

Im looking to get a 250r after I sell my warrior but im not sure what to get. I see more LT250Rs for sale and their going for less then the TRX. I see alot more TRXs at the track than the LTs. My question is which is better for trails and maybe taking it to a track a few times? They both seem good to me but which one is faster and handles better?

their both VERY similar. i would go for the LT because it is more unique, and theirs Aftermarket galore for both.. though the 250R has better resale value.. i would get what ever one i could get nicer for a better price

Honda by far. the zukes are a piece of crap, slow and hard to find parts for. the lt500's can even be out run by the r's. way more parts for cheap for the r compared to the lt. No big bore's 4 the lt. The r's stomp the lt's on the track and on the hill. Why do you think there so cheap?. the zukes new 450 is going to be nice but its a 4 stroke and 10 g's by the time you get out the door. Hell you could build a whole bike off of ebay for a r in a day 4 half that and still beat it on a track. Dont waiste you time with a lt or I'm just waisted mine tellin u..

They are very close to even in terms of motor.. The Zuk seems to have a little more bottom end, and the TRX seems a little better on the top end..
IN a drag race Stock for Stock the Zuk is actually a little faster..
However You wont be finding Pristine stock machines in your searches I doubt..
The handeling is where the trx has the advantage over the Zuk.. It Stays Planted a bit better in the Turns, handles whoops a bit better, but doesnt handle the hard landings as well as the zuk, again comparing stock for stock.
Reliability on the late mode zuks, 89-92 is very good, as is the TRX 250r, stay away from 85-86 Model zuks and 86 Model TRX's.
Aftermarket parts are plenty for both machines..
Make sure you know what to check for when searching for your machine regardless of what you get, Make sure Bearings are tight,Axle is straight, Suspension is good with no "bouncing", etc..
Good Luck!

Perhaps a 370 on alky, against a stock, worn out, plugged up, incorrectly jetted 500.....
I'm sorry, I shouldn't even reply to this post, but to make this as a general statement is absurd.

Ive owned both and I would have to say the honda. They are both fast enough that you wont notice the difference in power, but hit a set of whoops on the honda then the suzuki, and you will never give the suzuki a second glance. The Honda attacks whhops like a mogoose attacks a snake.
edit: but I should mention that I owned and raced my LT many years and don't regret a minute of it. If the LT is more close to what you are looking to spend then get it you won't be disapointed.

Also, the later LT's are powervalved motors. This explains the increased bottom end response, but adds to the rebuild costs. Many of the drag LT's I see have either had the powervalve removed or locked in positon.
Anything can be made to run well, look at my TRX, I am currently running a 85 cylinder, 86 trans and cases and rolling chassis, 87 piston, 88 rod and a 89 clutch, the combo runs very well with a 1998 CR250 carb and intake setup. It can easily run with the more modern machines and hold its own against modded Banshees.
