Thinking of getting a honda...need opinions

Hi Iam thinkking of selling or trading the sportsman for a 400ex , it will have to be used of couse. I have put alot of $ into this thing and when something minor go's its a bigger hole in my pocket. I have owned one honda and I beat the living **** outta it and never had a problem with it. It was a honda 300 fourtrax. Anyways I dont see my self in the mud like i use to be , none to be found . Will the 400 be better on gas ? will parts be cheaper ? is it reliable ? If anyone could anwser these questions ied greatly appricate it. Also how fast are they stock ?

If you ride it the same as you ride your 500 you should get better gas mileage- it's lighter, and has a smaller motor, and doesn't lose power through the automatic transmission. If you ride it hard which is likely with a sport quad you're probably going to get less mileage because you can ride faster than you could with the Sportsman. Of course it's going to be reliable- it's a honda - and there's less parts on sport quads, which means there's less to go wrong then there is with a 4x4 automatic with all the extras they have. How fast? I'm not sure about top speed on them, but the acceleration of any 400 sport quad is going to be way better than your sportsman.

If you can get enough for your Sportsman, which I think you should be able to, then go for it. Another thing you might want to consider is an older 250 2 stroke. Theyre faster than the 400 and probably cheaper, but you'll have to kick start it, they sound like a pissed off chainsaw, which I don't like myself. Another positive thing with most sport quads over the sportsman is that you have the ability to change your gearing for more top end if it suits your riding style.

lol i prefer 4 wheels over 3 . I think iam just gunna keep the sportsman now , seems it will be hard to hunt n stuff like that with a sport and i think ill just mod the 500 , clutch kit and a pipe probaly.

i would get a racing quad, so i would swap in the sportsman. u will know that you use most petrol when revving, so even with this in mind, the 400ex should b better than your 500. i think top speed would be about 63-65mph. but i hear that with a 440 kit they can contend with raptor etc and give the a good run for their money!
