Default Predator 500 vs. Yamaha YFZ 450

I am looking for experienced people to answer. I am not curious to hear which one will win in a drag race. I want to know how the power ratio is, how tough each one is, and which is a better buy. I realize this probably gets posted once a day. The YFZ is a little more spendy, but is it worth it?

I hear the Predator is more of a ditch riding ATV, and the 450 is made for racing.

Let me know

Well the YFZ 450 has a better power to weight ratio, but it doesnt really matter if it doesnt suit the terrain you are going to be riding in.

if your in to trails, then you should get the predator, if your gonna be more aimed at MXing get the YFZ

the predetor TLD has a very nice transmition, and is a hair faster than the Raptor 660, undoubtably the YFZ is faster than the pred, but teh preds suspention and transmition is SOOOO nice. as far as litteral toughness, id probebly hand my bet to the predetor as stock it could take a bit of a beating. i read an article where Kawasaki did 40 hour tests of the YFZ and the 450EX (or whatever the honda is called) and the YFZ came out with a cracked frame, and this was just resently. i donno much about the YFZ's composure as ive never raced around on one. but its all in what type of riding you want to go for.

as for a drag race like your asking, the YFZ will undoubtably win, but it wont be by much

If your going to mod it the YFZ is cheaper to hop up. You will get more bang for your buck.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the replys.

It will be mostly ditch riding/trails. I am thinking when I can afford it, I will go with the Predator.

Now..Troy Lee and the regular Predator..Whats the difference?

Troy Lee has the close ratio gears, Maxis Razr's, and Fox Podieum with the rezzies. I wasn't thrilled with the close gear, so I went with the '05 Limited Edition, which has the standard gears, but also came with a White Brothers E-series.

I rode both the Troy Lee and the Limited, and in the lower gears the Troy Lee was fine, but going from 4th to 5th you really got to whind it out. I hear guys get past that with a new CDI box, but you might want to investigate that yourself. I wanted standard gearing because I do a lot more wide open river bed and fire road running. I love to powerslide...

well.. the predator is a lil bit faster than the yfz in a drag race and it has a better power to weight ratio.. but the yfz is a MUCH better rider and makes better turns and is better on track..
