Default Making a blaster race ready

Im thinking of building up an old blaster. I want to be able to race but able to throw on a different set of tires and go play in the woods. So the first thing I want to do is upgrade the dumb drum brakes and mech disc to hydrolic disc. Then make the skinny little beast wider. I heard a stock banshee axel will fit and give it an extra +2', I don't know if thats true on not. What should I do for A-arms and hubs to use the disc brakes? Will raptor/banshee/warrior/yfz A-arms work? For front shocks Ill probly look around on e-bay for a used set of works triple rates. So after A-arms,suspention and axel that should cover most of the handling.
What should I do for motor? exhaust?
And if I get some time and more money maybe some plastics?

um, im not too sure about suspension for the blaster, but i can give you some ideas on motor mods.
P&P, piston, pipe, filter, jets, 240 kit if you have enough money, reeds, and carb, if u have money for one. Those mods will giv you very good gains, and should be plenty for a blaster u want to be able to take in the woods. Maybe a little too much if u want to go ride in the woods and track.

It would be easier just to buy aftermarket parts that are ment for it because they will be much stronger then part of another quad. I would go with wider axles and a arms and maybe wider rims. Then all the motor mods.

xman its not the power in your quad its the handling and rider ablity infact you could be a horrible rider with the best quad and come in last place see what im saying but anyways just throw on a pipe and jet kit and deff. tires and your pretty much going the right direction if your on a low budget.... just make shure you get 20in tires if you want to trail ride and race because i put 18's on my sons so he could race and trail ride and he is always telling me how he gets hung up on rocks because the back end is to low but the 18's give your more acceleration but if you want to get the same ratio of speed/acceleration then drop to a 12th sprocket and and get the 20in and it will work as if it is stock still just my advise

I think the things you must have on your bike is nerf bars and a kill switch..To be competitive thats a different story :-) From what i have been told to race in the blaster class you have to remain at 200cc's..The 240's arent aloud..Your right in that a banshee axle will give you 2' more width.. Another Cheap mod that makes a huge difference is a rear shock swap off a 400ex, 250R, KFX, LTZ400 or DVX 400..I know a guy that even used a ohlins cannondale 440 rear shock..Send a private message to Shav0 if your looking for some front works tripple rates..He has a set for 190 shipped..

As far as the engine a good right side pipe and a carb really wakes up the motor..If you got the cheddar porting is also a good way to go(mostly only works well with aftermarket pipe and carb)..A 34mm PJ(250R carb) Can be used with Small modification and is also a cheap alternative to the PWK's..There is some motor builders out there putting out some very respectable numbers for the little 200cc.. Good luck with what ever you do :-)

Would ShavO still have shocks because I know he traded his blaster for a honda 250R. I live in Nova Scotia so their is only beginner and pro classes because of lack of interest.
Id like to get a set of aftermarket A-arms but I know I won't be able to so I'll look on Ebay but is their and other stock A-arms that are wider that fit on a blaster? As for axel I might go with a G-force.
As for motor I was thinking, port/carb/piston. How about the reeds? How much power increase will I get ad is it noticebal?
And swing arm? Is their any other longer swing arms that fit the blaster because I really don't want to spend the $$$ on an aftermarket.

If someone was to do all that engine work on a blaster, would it still be a good bike for trails or would it foul the plug and be a race only bike that is estremely low durability and high maintanance machine?

Thats a good qustion that I would like to know myself. I don't ride many tight trails just pits and old logging roads that you can go super fast on
