I just purchased a new 700 EFI Sportsman and when I got it home I started it up and took it for a 5 minute ride, when I came to a stop I noticed a smell and there was a good amount smoke coming up though the habdlebar area. Is this just the coating burning off the exhaust as it seemed to be coming from that area and the dealer agreed it could be that or do you think there could be something wrong. I havent had time to take it out again but will try to ride this weekend. Has anyone experienced this.

That's possible, but it doesn't seem likely.

If you can't trace the source, I would immediately take it back to the dealer.

 

what exactly does it smell like... i did notice that my exhaust rubber mounts did smell a little when i bought it but it did "smoke"
