Default How much louder is HMF 96 Db exhaust- 660 Raptor?

I would like to ditch the stock exhaust on my 03 660 raptor and am curious how much louder it will be over stock? I heard a dual exhaust on a 660 yesterday riding at Hangtown, and it didn't sound that much louder than stock to me.

Has anyone put on a quiet core HMF and been disappointed?

Thanks

Allen

when i was researching exaust for my Grizz,i read some reviews,,,they all pretty much said the same thing,,,,,restrictive,no power gains, that HMF claimed

i ended up with a Dubach (Dr. D),and love it,,,it is louder, but not irriitating,,,,its a deep throaty sound, and did give more HP,and everyone loves it,,,one freind went out and bought one for his Kawasaki sport bike, and loves it

ive had no complaints from others riding behind me either,i asked, and they all said truthfully,it wasnt bad,,,but it is definatly louder than stock,,,and it is well made, and no hassle instalation,i was even able to use the stock heat shields with it

also i did need new hose clamps for the heat shields,,,and i did have to go to the auto parts store and get a 1 1/4 exaust clamp, because the stock clamp wouldnt work with the new exaust, but that was it

H.P. and quiet don't mix.If your looking at 96db. pipes I can tell you that you would be better off staying with the stock system.

Thanks for the replies.

That is exactly what I was afraid of, that if the Db wasn't much louder it probably equates to not much in performance gains.

I am stuck with 96 I believe in order to ride at California state parks, and have heard that some actually have noise meters being used by rangers in northern California !!!!

Thank you

Allen

HMF is a loud pipe, quiet core helps but it doesn't bring it down to 96 (I don't have any graphs to bad that up though, just from what i literally heard) I don't know about the Lodi area but the foresty guys here are pretty nice. If you are looking for quiet then the FMF Q is suppose to be one of the quietest. But i think the White Brothers E-Series can be around 96db too. Just to a search for Raptor Quiet Pipe or something to that effect (like put exhaust instead of pipe, 660R instead of raptor etc etc) and you should turn up some results

I am not sure which area it was, but it was around Forresthill that the supposed ranger covers, maybe goldrun 33? I will ask my friend tomorrow and see where he was refering to.

And I will do a search.

Thanks
