SP 90 muffler
#1
Can I take the stock SP90 muffler off and replace it with something that sounds a little throatier. RIght now I just dont like the sound it's putting out. As it breaks in a little more its sounding better but I just want a better, deeper sound.

.
I read many historical posts stating that some folks seperate &/or punch a hole in the center of their minis factory pipe. This makes it sound louder. Some have success in making it sound different without changing its power curves. When most do this, it screws up the power output in the low &/or high RPMS. Great sounding pipe but it falls flat on its face - compared to unmodified factory pipes.
As a suggestion, give Billy Holt at WRH Racing a call. I hear he has a pipe that will bolt on without needing to relocate / remove the factory OI system & battery system.. Depending on your year of SP-90, he has performance pipe that will fit your mini's Reverse gear feature. Some of the other performance specialists don't offer "for reverse gear" performance pipes. His contact info is: http://www.wrhracing.net/contact_us
I suppose you could always try poking a hole in the center of your factory pipe. It it doesn't work for you, then install a "Dyno Tuned" performance pipe. Good luck on what every you decide.
Hope this helps....
