Default Fan switch Mod 2005 Sportsman 500

Was wondering if anyone has done the mod to manually turn on the fan with a switch? I have done this mod and it works great but when I turn the fan on the "HOT" light comes on in the pod. When I turn the fan off the "HOT" light goes out. Is there any way to get around this? It would be nice if the "HOT" light did not come on when I turn the fan on.

I see no reason for this mod.

The stock factory fan switch controls the fan correctly.

my cousin had a problem with his sp 500 overheatin every time we rode cuz the fan never came on-he did a manual switch too-then he took it to the polaris dealer and found out the problem was in the ignition somewhere after replacing the whole fan assembly........good thing it was on warranty LOL--the hot light never came on when he turned on the manual switch though

Well I put this switch in because my atv kept overheating in the bush. The problem was the fan would never come on. After I installed this switch the recall came out on the 2005s to get the ECM replaced for the exact problem. Since the ECM has been replaced under the recall I have had no problem with overheating. But I do like the security of being able to throw the switch to turn the fan on whenever I want to or if I ever need to do to the same problem. If any knows what wires to splice into let me know. Maybe I have spliced into the wrong wire that is why it's reading HOT when I turn the fan on Manually. It works great but maybe a diffrent wire might help. Thanks
