SPORTSMAN 700 CARB HELP
#1
my friends 700 was not ideling without the choke on so i took apart the carb and cleaned it. Now it idels like a champ, But anything over 1/2 throttle it sputters and pops. when i removed the air box it had raw fuel all over. and when running it without the air box and giving gas you can see too much fuel spraying around in the carb. Where did i go wrong?? definetly too much fuel on anything over 1/2 throttle. The slide does go up and down upon acceleration. thats when i see too much fuel, please help

Did you run it with the airbox/filter on? Or did you just run it with it off? I know adding those 2 partrs would only make it richer but if you cleaned the carb to fix the idle which you do with success somthing else would have to change in the carb to make it run the way you describe.

it ran as i explained above, ok until 1/2 throttle then it would sputter and pop due to too much fuel. then i removed the air box to see what was going on thats when i saw all that fuel.

I would suggest pulling the carb off and double checking all settign make sure something isn't plugging the main jet it sounds lean to me if you say it is popping. I don't know if you can see how much fuel the carb is using if you took the filter off of any of these quads and looked at just the carb you would see raw fuel at some point in time somig out of the carb. Bottom line is somthing happened once you cleaned the carb go back and double check it there is no reason that the quad should require different jets after a carb cleaning.

i just took it off again, and went over all my steps. needle and seat look good ,floats look good, all jets are clean. this time i ran it with the air box on and the filter removed . it reved up to high rpm a few times and when i was done the intake tube from the carb to the airbox was full of gas ???
