Not too sure about your oil cap or what oil filter must be used in your specific AC. But for Engine Oil, you may want to contact David @ Synthetics@charter.net He's a National Amsoil Oil guy. He'd be able to tell you what Amsoil Oil would be best in your specific AC. If wondering, I switched to Amsoil Oil and am very pleased with it.
Hope this helps....

Just use the AC synthetic oil, it works very well and will keep you out of trouble if something breaks. There are even oil change kits available from your dealer that include the oil and filter. Amsoil ain't have what they claim, don't use it.

you can use the amsoil 10-40 synthetic for motorcycles and be fine. make sure its the motorcycle oil and not the car oil. It has to be used for a wet clutch. The best oil is the oil that is changed often! It takes about 3 1/2 quarts of oil for the 500 manual. Its an easy job to do. I get the arctic cat 10w40 oil and cat filter for mine. I do use amsoil in my polaris predator atv's though because its cheaper and I change my oil every 10 hours (according to manual) on my predator and I have no complaints.

I use the AC synthetic and have no problems. I am sure there are other good ones out there, but this is just the easiest. I got a flying in the mail and it says that AC now recommends changing your oil once a year or every 1000 miles. I however do 500 miles.

i checked myself at the ARCTIC CAT DEALER TODAY!!!
I ASKED IF THE AC SYNTHETIC OIL IS FINE(CUZ IT SAID IN THE BOOK TO USE 10W-40) AND HE SAID IT IS JUST FINE AND MY WARRANTY WILL BE THE SAME.

I have been using AC synthetic oil in my '02 Cat 500 since it was new. 1.5k miles, runs great, clutch engages perfectly, no slipping. Highly recommended.
Good oil is one of the cheapest investments you can make in long engine life.
