I was wonding what carb will work on my 2001 400ex and what power range will it work the best in?

 

TRX450R stock 42mm carb works great.....[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

I'm worried that 42 mm carb will be to big for the work I have done to my EX .. My stock carb is only 35.5mm .
Will my stock cables fit the 450r's carb

 

I have an FCR39 on my 400ex. It runs good, especially on the top end. I think a 42 will be getting pretty big, for the mods you have.

I am using the stock throttle cable from a YFZ450. A friend of mine has the crf carb, and he is using that same cable. The Yamaha cable fit petfect, nothing modified anywhere.

 

Where can I find that carb ? What about a carb off of a 05-06 400ex thats 38mm

 

How is the low and mid range with that carb

 

The trx450r carb costs $168 brand new from servicehonda.com, also get the throttle cable for a trx450r and it will work great. I would like to see you get a used 39mm FCR for under $200....

 

get a FCR unless you live in COLD area
the factory 450r carb has a choke while the FCR doesn't

 

My friend got his 39mm fcr from C&Dracing, they had the best price that he found. I dont remember how much it was.

 

This one is a little pricey, but I like my Edelbrock. It took me a while to get it right, but I like it alot. It's the doug eichner series. I'm running a 440 kit with 12.5:1, stage 2 hotcam, full scorpion exhaust and a ported head. If you want good pricing, go to ebay.
