I hate jetting
#1
I recently removed the air box lid and stock baffle on my 450r just to get alittle more juice out of it and had to rejet. Stock I have a 118 main and 45 pilot, my dealer told me to bump those up to a 150 main and 50 pilot. Well it is kinda fallin on its face in the mid-top area. I've never really had alot of patients for jetting and I don't really want to keep tearing this apart playing with it, especially since this is just a temporary thing. The motor is gonna be getting all kinds of fun stuff added to it in the up comming months at which point I'll just pay the money to have it profesionally jetted. For the mean time I would just like to try and get it right myself and save myself a couple bucks. Any info would help out here. Thanks.

to jet......you can go by feel if you are good.......but if not, look at the plug and go from there.......but you have to have a new plug when you start......and go run it hard, and shut if off right away(no idleing).........and then check the plug.........
sounds to me like a big jump in mj's for just the mods you made........

You must be savin up for a turbo or somethin? lol... Call cleavy tomorrow and price some slip-on's and if you want I can put it on my card. and while your at it find out if that damn spark arrestor crap for my pipe is in cuz I wanna take it this weekend, and if you want to take yours let me know so I can take your bike to work and weld that end cap, or re-tap it.

Yeah I'll call him and see whats goin on. Maybe we can just duct tape that stupid end cap back on.lol. Yeah bradracer it does seem like a big step up but the dealer is swearing up and down that those jets should work fine. With those jets in if I put the air box lid back on it just seems to fall on its face up top which doesn't make that much sence to me. I don't know. Any other input on this?

JOSH... I know it was probably cleave who told you this, but cleavy doesn't really know that much besides banshees, remember how he sold me some funky @ss jets? If you are dead set on running your stock muffler then you should take those jets back and get some more moderately sized jets so we can play around with it, and then whatever you don't use we could take them back. and what the hell is wrong with a little duct tape????

Yeah I remember how he set you up, I'm not dead set on runnin this stock pipe I just dont wanna put out the money for the slip-on right now cause I think I can get a better deal than what cleave would give me. We'll see what he says tomarrow. But for now I'm just hoping that someone on here has kinda been here with this bike and can give me a better idea with where I should start here.

Honda sends a 185 main with the HRC kit, that's just an endcap, vented lid and cam. You need to go up to at least a 175 or 180 main if you ditched the lid and opened up the exhaust. The 450r is the most bottled up thing I've ever worked on.
