I was watching ESPN2 when that happened. I can't believe the guy even lived, turned out he just had a few small cuts on his back. I think he even finished the weekend of racing on his sled.

WEAR A HELMET.

My opinion only: If you are going to do any kind of aggressive riding & won't wear a helmet because it is too heavy, you aren't strong enough to drive the thing. I have to admit I don't always wear a helmet, but it is on the farm, following cow trails, at low speeds. 3/4 of the trails could be followed in a car. I wear it when 'goofing around' though.

I have absolutely no excuse with it being heavy... The dive helmet I wear is 35 lbs, and they have the nerve to call it a "Superlite"...
And people wonder why I wear an 18" collar on my shirts...

I used to ride motorcycle, and always wore helmet on the HWY.I didn't think nessary in town, after all I'm not going fast or far.One day I watched as they scraped a guy up from the pavement, that had got broad sided by a car,he had the right of way for all the good it done him,he was bleeding from the nose and mouth, and there was his helmet strapped to the back of his bike.It was then that I relized that in town and what I had thought was the safest place was really the most dangerous. From that day on I have wore my helmet any time I ride. This spring in MOAB a friend of mine that is a dirt biker and over 50 yrs old, took my grandson for a ride on a rode that two wheel low clearance cars used, well on way back they hit a rock and rolled the quad my grandson was thrown some distance from the quad, and was wearing a helmet wasn't hurt. The guy driveing was hurt not bad but was lucky as he didn't have helmet on,sure it was safe road and only a short ride, but sure could have had serious consequenses.Thats the reason they call them "ACCIDENTS"not an "ON PURPOSE" they can happen any time, weather you are beating the path hard or are on pleasure cruise!!!!I'm not preching to anyone it's your choice, but you'll not not see me or any of mine without helmets.CM

Couldn't agree more heartedly. Helmet saved my life when I came off back of bike and landed square on the back of my head. Had a headache for four days, but I walked away!
