Sprocket??
#1
Totally stock 05' DS650X. I just bought a set of 22" tires, now I need a 15 tooth front sprocket. Anyone have a suggestion as to where to buy one? Do I want steel or aluminum? Sorry for all the "Green" questions.....

RockyMountain has them from 14 to 17t. I just got a 14t and 15t about two weeks ago. They are steel and I've been giving them hell and swapping them back and forth for different terrain and different tires to see what I prefer for around here. They show almost no wear at all, so I would say they are going to last. For the price you might as well get as many as you think you'll want to try. Got both to include shipping for less than half of what Chaparral wanted for just one.
I would deffinitely suggest 22 inch tires. Top end just up and disappears with the 14t and 20's. Refer to the gearing calculator to see what they can do to speed.

Thanks for the info, I did go ahead and ordered a 15 tooth from Rocky Mountain. I also have a wheel / tire set of 22" Sand Star coming. I thought a 15 tooth and the 22" tires would get me close to stock. I'm heading to Florence, Or. at the end of the month, just trying to gear up for it! I've read over and over about trimming my heel rest because of rubbing with 22" tires. Can someone please explain to me in detail on how to do this? Thanks again!

Topper, I asked DemonDS that same question, see below for what he said.
"The way I did min was I took a fine cut wood blade on a jigsaw and I cut the guards following the fold that is to the outside of the guard. It is where they turn towards the tires. This made them where they followed the curve of the fender but were flat instead of folding back. I then took a knife and held it at a 90 degree angle to the edge where I cut and scraped the cut clean of the little burs. Peice of cake and didnt even have to take em off of the bike and most cant tell it's even been done. Hope this helps."
