I have a Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4. Today it was running fine and all of the sudden it started messing up. I know they don’t have gears but if you have a quad that does and you put it in 1st gear and wind it out and never shift that is what my Polaris is doing.
Why?
Does anybody know? Is it the clutches?
It will only go about 10-15 MPH and it revs out to the limit and when you leave off the gas it slows down real fast. Just like riding around in first gear on a regular quad (not Polaris) If anybody knows why please tell me.

Pop the clutch cover off, start it up and have a look. Just watch the fingers.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img]

most likely, theres a reason why it's not shifting

 

im betting that your belt is shot,,, but definitley remove the cover and inspect it...

i second that, if this is the case dont worry. simple as replaceing a vacum belt. costs about 40$
