Default rebuild LT80 ?

hi there, last weekend we did some trail and creek riding (6in deep) and my sons lt 80 sucked in some crap because the slide in the carb got stuck from grit. so any way i fixed that and we finished riding and by the end of the day it kept dieing. i came home and did a compression test at 60lbs, i thought oh no the cylinder is junk because i rebuilt it 5 months ago with 140lbs, so i took it apart and the cylinder is still smooth with no scars. the rings are not rounded, they are sharp.

Can i have the cylinder honed and install new rings without boring it ?

Default rebuild cylinder LT80 ?

Welcome to the ATV Connection forums.

This question can only be answered by measuring the cylinder/piston for clearance and being round.
You should have at least 5 bores till your cylinder is maxed out.

The head gasket was OK?
Cylinder smooth, but was the cross hatchs still visible?
Arrow on the piston pointing toward exhaust/rear of motor)?
Reed not sealing (crud/mud preventing it) maybe? Did it spit back out durring the compression test?

thank you, this was my first post, but i have been hanging around for a while now.

the cross hatching is no longer visible

the head gasket was ok,
the arrow is toward the exhaust.

I have to work all weekend but the reeds i will check asap, they probably are all crudded up, i should have checked them when i removed the carb to clean it.
