Default quarter mile

I am just wondering what quad is like the fasstest quarter mile ever, because my dad HAD a mustang (some diKK wadd stole it and i hope they burn forever and ever) and he said he had it like around 9 seconds at around 130mph in a quarter mile, do any quads come close to that?

Im sure theres some quads that run in the mod classes that could rival that. Ive seen some where people have put crotchrocket motors in quad frames and have been able to do 80 mph in 300 feet, so if you ran the 1/4 mile Id bet they could do 120-130 mph.
Now, if you are talking stock, then no, there isnt a quad in the world that can do 130 mph stock. I think the best ones in stock form are Banshees. They will do 100 mph with some minor gearing changes.

Ive seen a few mod class quads that had 1,000cc crotchrocket motors that Id be could hang with that Mustang, if not beat it.

the fastest drag banshee's run low 5's in the 1/8th mile so there might be some that run 9's in the 1/4th

I was at KCIR Dragstrip a couple of week ago and saw a drag banshee with nitrous run a 1/8 mile on the asphalt at 114 mph. Not real sure of his time though. I was running in the high 60's low 70's with no traction. ( spun my knobbies all the way ) I got some street tires and hope to get into the upper 80's maybe 90's next time.

My Suzuki Hayabusa can run in the 9's, but I have never seen a "real street legal" car without nos do it. I have seen alot of people say that their cars can, but when we go to the track they can't. I know there are plenty of cars that can, but a car has to have massive hp to make it happen. I think the number is somewhere around 750hp at the rear wheels for a 3000lb car to do sub 10sec 1/4 mile . Sorry to hear about your dads ride though.

I finish the quarter around 144mph and in the high 9's when everything is perfect. I don't think I want to go that fast on a quad ever, especially on sand.

I did not say that I did not believe you. I said there are cars that run in the 9's, I just have never been at the track when they are running. I just wish I had a dollar for everytime someone made that claim. A car that runs in the 11's is really really really fast. Street cars in the 9's are really really rare. Thats why it sucks so bad that your dads was stollen. ;(

Quads really don't race a full quarter mile. A long drag faor a quad would be something around 1/8 mile. A quad with a sport bike engine would really be screaming at the end of a full 1/4 mile.
