Jetting for 85 350 Odyssey
#1
Heres the details on the Ody I bought: new Honda crate motor (not rebuilt But broke in), new drive clutch (Comet 102C), new driven clutch, new drive belt, new rear brake rotor and caliper, K&N w/Outerwears, DG pipe, Pro Circut sileancer
The parts in bold is what I'm worried about. The P/O broke it in at sea level (Glamis) he said he didn't want to run it at higher elvations because of the jetting, and "set up". The manuel calls for a 142 jet for stock it also has the air/ fule mixtures listed for elavations from 0-5000ft from -20 degrees to 120 degress F This IS the range I WANT to run it. ut I was wondering with it being a newer crate motor With the K&N DG pipe and Silencer IF I need/SHOULD run different jetting than he manuel calls for. I PLAN on using it not only at Glamis but up in the High desert 3000-4000ft elevation. do I need OR SHOLD I change the " Jetting set up" for each elevation? If so hich way should I go for each and can I just KEEP the 142 jet in the and just change the fule air mxture? The Ody is like brand new and I DO NOT want to mess it up.
THANKS FOR ANY HELP/ADVICE on this topic.

Hi,
I have been running Odysseys for over 10 years and I have 3 350 Odysseys, 1 stock and the other two built to the teeth. You will definatly want to go up on the jetting, probably start around a 155 main. Do you know how to do plug chops? I run a 39MM PWK carb with a 170 main and I ride at 8,000 ft here at the Wyoming sand dunes. You really should go bigger on the carb. The stock 32MM will give you good torque off the line but you will suffer on the top end. Also, the DG pipe(I run one too) is a rev pipe. You should look at v-force reeds too.
What color spring are you using in the 102C? In sand, a Uni filter keeps out the fine sand better than the K&N with the prefilter,in my opinion. But the K&N WILL flow more air. You will just have to do a top end rebuild sooner. Just check your compression after every ride to keep on top of it. We all run 32:1 with a quality oil(no Wally world crap) and premium gas. Stay away from Champion plugs. Use NKGs and a hotter one too(BR7 or 8). More HP meens more heat. I run liquid heads or cylinders w/ radiators to control the heat. Might also want an EGT to help watch the jetting.
We have several web sites for the Odysseys and pilots. There is tons of info for you to research or ask questions at. www.pilot-odyssey.com or www.pilotodyssey.com Both have great tips and friendly people. I am sure you will find someone near you to ride buggies with also. Hope to see you there. I go by Nuke em there also (I work on nuclear missles in the silos for the Air Force), Gary
