Bad or Good idea? Take the air box and attach K & N filters with pre filters right to the carbs. I ride mostly on the sand. I notice that quite a few Banshee's have this set up.

Dumb idea! Then what are you going to do with the carbs' vacuum tubes that are attached to the stock intake boots? Those boots were designed with a "tuned" length to allow the motor to breathe well. It aint a two stroke! Just drill your airbox lid and rejet.

I completely agree with scottd. Also I have seen a lot of Banshees and Blasters that use K&N filters with dirt and sand in the crank case. Four strokes are even more voneralbe to engine damage due to insufitiant air filtration. I use a twin air filter and have had great luck, even with previous machines. Leave your air box on and at the most modify the top, DO NOT REMOVE IT.

The CV carbs operate on the vacuum lines plumbed into the intake tract. I don't think you can do it without changing the carbs.
