While riding around the local trails on my little bro's Recon, I saw a guy with a raptor. We rode a little (I was at the back!!!) and we found a guy with a 440 kit. You probably think I'm gonna say they drag-raced. WRONG. They were jumping a 30 foot double and the Raptor looked like it couldnt handle it. The ex is stock except 440 kit. The Raptor would have a real problem (or looked like it did) moving in the air. The ex could move perfectly. The riders were about the same size. They both were experienced and the guy with the raptor had his for about a month. He said he was plenty use to the way it handled, etc. The guy with the raptor let me drive his and I felt like it weighed a good 50 pounds more than the 400's??? I was thinking about gettin a Raptor , not anymore. Oh, by the way .... The guy's axel on the Raptor was bent. I think I want to go out and by a almost 7 grand quad, and have to worry about gettin 7 or 8 feet of air bendin the axel!!

Leave it up to yama. Not slamming or anything like that but i guess with the time it took them to build the frame they had to skimp somewhere else. Guess the axles and arms are their answer to keeping the price affordable.

Actually, they were trying to keep the weight down. I'm sure aluminum a-arms cost more than steel to manufacture. I am baffled though, how such a big company, that usually produces top notch machinery, cranked out such a trouble prone quad.

Gabe: you need to race a ratpor with you 416 kit....
i know you will win, if a stock is close...
if 16cc's can take the place of 260cc's.... geeze

Sounds like another case of small man syndrome to me honda boys. P S i don't have a raptor. I will be glad when honda puts a 650 out for you people. I bet your trips to the theapist is starting to get rather expensive.

I've seen 440 ex's being beaten by STOCK banshees and raptors. Thats awesome considering they weigh 20+ lbs more and that the 400ex has a higher compression piston. BTW, how much did you spend for the 440 kit?? Don't cry when you toast your engine.
