New H1
#1
Hey guys just picked up my new h1 today. Very excited to get some time on it. Just a couple questions for the guys who own them. First how fast can I expect this thing to go compared to polaris 500 ho. Not that speeed is that important but just curious. Second does anyone have any good aftermarket accessories sites. Artic cat is so high on them just curious if I can find a good cargo box for the back that won't leak. Thanks

It is in another league than the Polaris 500 HO. The H1 runs like the V2, and the 500 HO can't keep up with it on the straights. I'm not dissing the Polaris, because it is a superb machine with lots of power. It is giving up 150cc and weighs more than the H1, so it won't hang with it.
Give us a report when you take a ride. That's one fine machine you have there.

Don't want to burst your bubble, but the H's are not that fast. I came from the V2 to the H, and the V is much quicker. I raced a 04 Poop 500 on my H, and he keep right up to me. I do have 27" bugs and he had factory 25's, but it still pi**ed me off that he was just as fast. Both were stck otherwise,. ( I do have the 06 secondary which is a improvement in the midrange) In our group the is A 06 Cat 650, a 05 Brute, a 05 Grizz and a Poop 500 and 800- the H is the slowest.
I do like the machine overall, but dissappointed a little in the power.

cattman, If you guys insist on oversized tires you will pay the price. You can't blame the machine, only yourself for poor desision making. This larger diameter thing makes no sense. Go with wider tires, get more tread on the ground and don't screw up the gear ratio with a lager diameter tire and lose preformance.

I definetly agree with Bear. It doesn't make sense to go with a larger tire. For every inch of tire you only gain 1/2" of clearance. The resulting negatives like power loss and extra stress on the components outweigh the postives.

You get a major change in final gearing when you add those large tires. Also, the H1 needs about 400 miles or so to fully break-in. It may not be as fast as a V2, but it's not far off.
I refuse to believe the Polaris 500 can keep up with an H1. (both machines stock.) I'll believe it when I see it. My V2 runs neck and neck with my 800 EFI up to 50mph, and the 800 has it all over the 500. (The 800 was not fully broken-in yet, while the V2 is)
Everyone I've talked to that has ridden the H1 and V2 say they are close. I guess I'll have to race one when I come across it.

I went on a 50 mile ride this last weekend with my buddy and his 05' Sportsman 700 EFI, and my 06' H1 would pull wheelies, his would not! Side by side race, mine was faster off the line and through power band, but his would catch up and pass me at top speed (about 1-3 MPH faster). I did take his for a spin, and yes it is a nice bike too! but.... I still think the AC rocks! It didn't feel hefty with all that plastic! That EFI is nice though! But over all performance, the H1 stood alone! (He has more experience, but I had to wait a lot! ).
Just my 2!!
