I just bought a 1984 honda atc 250r a few weeks ago. I have 2 other machines and I love to ride this thing. I already have a sidewinder chain, and sprockets,k&n filter, it had been bored .30 over, and has a dynojet jet kit. I would like to make it faster and improve on some other things like exhuast, intake, tires, wheels, and any other performance mods to make it waste the banshees. I don't know much about this machine but am enjoying learning more about it all the time. Any input is appreciated. Thanx

i think DG or LRD still make pipes for the aircooled 250r's and have a machineshop or bike shop shave the head a lil to up the compression, might have to go up a couple on your main jet..have fun.. nice ride also

Lose the "Mean green machine" name and you might find more people will help! (just jokin')

I had an 82 ATC250R with stock reeds, bored .030" over, and added a DG pipe/silencer. The pipe really added a lot of power!

I used to own an 84 250R. It will respond to the same mods you would do to any other 250R (pipe, reeds, porting, etc.) You are going to be limited on pipes. I am pretty sure DG still makes one but call EVERY company you would like to have a pipe from and at least ask. I had the stock pipe/silencer on mine plus the head milled, Boyesen reeds, ports cleaned up, and a reed spacer. It ran pretty good. They actually have a better powerband than the 85/86 ATC250Rs. Much wider. You have a nice trike. If I find another one, I'll try to grab it.
