2002 polaris sportsman 500 ho engine smokes

please help what can cause this problem. someone said that it could possibly be a air filter or valve or hose stopped up. can anyone help??

2002 polaris sportsman 500 ho engine smokes

Give us a little more info. I'm guessing the smoke is coming out of the exhaust... is it blue black or white?

Is it worse when accelerating, coasting down a hill, at starup or ?????

it started smoking after a days ride. it is blue smoke. smokes all the time more when accelerating.

out of the exhuast pipe?

if so, you have a cracked, or damaged piston ring and probebly need your engine rebuilt. remember to check your oil

Yup sounds like you probably need a ring job... on most atvs it's not difficult if your handy. You may want to have a pro check it out before you tear your engine apart.
