Default Direct Shifter Question

Hi,
I'm new to the group and a newbie to ATV's. Great wealth of information here.
I recently bought a 94' Raptor 350. I haven't driven a clutch in 25 years..and that was in a truck.
So I'm re-learning clutching but catching on quickly but still a pain getting use to the clutch lever.
I've read alot about installing a Direct Shifter. Though it sounds great, I actually don't understand the difference between it and the stock lever. Would installing a direct shifter help or hinder getting use to a clutch again? Does it help in find Nuetral?
Thanks

Default Direct Shifter Question

Yes they make neutral much easier to find compared to a shifter with linkage. Basically a direct shifter mounts right on the shift shaft, while most stock levers mount away from the shaft on a steel drum and use a linkage setup to turn the shift shaft. It gives you better feedback when shifting and results in fewer missed gears/shifts as well.

Default Direct Shifter Question

I feel your pain RhinoRaptor. I do not mean to hoard in on the thread, but I am in the same boat. My Lt 230s has a bad linkage set up so I to would like to switch to a direct shifter however I cannot get any information on what would fit my machine so I was wondering if the shift shafts are a size that is a industry standard? If that is the case than I will have to look at different quads to see which ones have one long enough to work. Any help by you guys would be greatfull. It would be a lot easier to find neutral if the shifter did not have the sloppy linkage.
