Default 2006 750 Brute Top Speed

Tue October 25, 2005 5:30 PM (NEW!)

I just bought a 2006 Kawasaki 750 Brute Force. After approx 150 mi break-in period I decided to see why I bought this thing.
What a dog. Top speed on gravel road was 62 mph and top speed on blacktop was 64 mph. ( 1000 ft above sea level @ 45 deg ambient.)
I complained to the dealer and they were also surprised. They had been telling everyone that bought this machine that they could expect 70-75 mph.(Which is consistant with published reports I've seen.)
I called Kawasaki Management and they were satisfied with that performance.
Does anyone think that the carb modifications for the 2006 models to allow for better starting hurts the performance?
What are the most obvious problems?
I would love to hear actual digital speedo readings from other 2005 and 2006 750 Brute Force riders.

Thanks in advance ,
dgrozzy

Got mine up to 70mph, in 4x4 Hi....probably would have gone a bit faster in 2x4. Yours seems slow; must be a reason why.

Won't have mine till next week but a friend of mine had his 06' up to 77mph all stock with stock tires. Know of a couple 05's with 26" mudlites that will run out at 72mph.

That is about what I got on breakin with the stock tires on my P700. Sounds kind of slow for your BF750 with stock tires.

What does your dealer say? If you got it tuned up by a certified technician other than the dealer, and you got 5-10% better performance, would he or Kawasaki reimburse you? That sounds fair to me, cause you sure didn't get what you thought you were buying performance-wise. Is it fast up to the 62mph?

Mine was close to that until I started modding.

I think my 84 on speedometer was less than 80 on bf, outlander went 77 stock at 7700 rpm down hill.

just a thought
I was reading a shootout in Dirt Wheels from a couple months ago on the BF750. they used a gps and read 70mph the same as the spedo.

I havent opened mine up yet only got 2 hrs on it. I will check back in when shes broke in.
