DIRT WHEELS COMPARISON: BRP800 vs SP800
#1
The following are exerps from the article:
"top speed was measured at 75 mph on the Outlander and 70 mph on the Sportsman"
"with perfect traction, the Bomb easily rocketed away from the Polaris, but on a loose dirt road the advantage was cut in half with the Sportsman having better traction, even though the two machines had identical tire traction."
"the Sportsman has great traction and stays more controllable at higher speeds."
"The Polaris front end stays planted while the BRP800 tends to wheelie when climbing."
"Active accelerating and braking on the Outlander had the machine rocking like a clowns head from a jack-in-the-box. The seat height is slightly taller and body roll front to backwas very evident."
"Traction and handling was much better on the Sportsman. Both machines feature nearly identical tires but they just didn't hook up as well on the rolling Bomb."
"At altitude both machines were still running very strong. Top speed on each machine dropped about 10 moph. However, the Bomb lost more bottom end power and the Sportsman had noticably stronger acceleration than the Bomb now."
"On the trail, it wasn't hard to tell that the Polaris lights were way better. In fact, you could see better with the Sportsmans's low beams than you could with either of the BRP's settings"
"when fully loaded(200 lbs rear, 100 lbs front), the Sportsman handled the best and was hardly affected by the load. One tester said the Outlander reminded him of the old Weeble Wobble toy."
"The Polaris Sportsman 800is a better all around package than the BRP Outlander 800."

That is a shocker ! I absolutely love my 800 Sportsman but all I have heard from other rags and forums is how FAST the Bomb is and Polaris better watch out blah blah blah..... Who would have ever guessed that Dirt Wheels would have chosen the Polaris as the better quad- Amazing.... That video on the Bomb site is an absolute joke except for the speed test - the Brute will not beat the 800 like the video showed - it is actually a very close race - I know because me and my neighbor go at it all the time and trade wins - The only thing I can honestly believe is true is- yes, the Bomb has better top end speed but that is it !! It is hard to beat a Polaris in any category except for maybe top speed and it's heavy weight.... I personally like a Utility quad that's heavier - It's like driving a tank on Steroids -- Way to go Dirt Wheels - Now all Polaris has to do is add a video to their website of the Sporty 800 being compared to the Bomb 800 being they pretty much made all other brands look sad... Not ******* the Bomb but now that Dirt Wheels liked it better, I'm sure Polaris marketing will have some retaliation !

Polaris must be putting more advertising money into "Dirtwheels"
Positive comments on the Predator
Positive write up on the Hawkeye
And now something nice about the SP800

i got the magazine also....was surprised by all the comments, i was looking at the outlander 800, but checked it out at the dealer and i would still go with the polaris.....more storage on the polaris, better suspension/frame, larger racks, thats what i need for a utility/hunting vehicle.....
hopefully bombardier will work on the weak spots, it has a strong motor and need to put the package together, they said it was built more towards being a sport machine, kind of like the BF 750....nice machine, terrible suspension...
