Looking for dependable 50 & 90cc quads for my 4 yr old & 9 yr old daughters, anyone have any suggestions? Any reviews on the BMX Powersports Odyssey SE 403 (www.familygokarts.com)?

Seems like the most dependable quads have dependable dealers. Unless you're willing to turn a wrench, find a good local dealership. If you want to just add gas and have one run for 10 years, buy a Honda.

This is exactly the same quad I have for my son but with the 70cc motor. SunL is the major importer for this model of quad. I also have purchased two others of the same for a few friends and we have had ZERO problems with this quad. When they arrived, I pulled them out of the crate and removed just about every nut & bolt and used Blue Thread Locker one them. I also changed the oil in the crankcase with some good 4-stroke ATV oil.

If you are mechanically inclined (Can turn a wrench) or know someone that is and can help, this is a great first starter quad. My son is 4 and loves his quad :-)

The braking system is AWESOME! It uses a single disk brake in the rear and brake pads are easy to find. They are the exact same brake pads & brake caliper used on the Kawasaki Mojave, Tecate & Lakota. This little quad has great safety features that are easy to sell to moms.

Check out John @ www.racewayatv.com He is on the forums all the time and has great customer service. And his prices are cheaper than familygokarts.com

You better look around and do your homework. What are the chances that the reply you got is a dealer for his brand. Do some research on here and you will find out that the "off name brand" quads are just that. Why do you think the Japanese brands are so highly regarded and have been for the last 10 years.

There will plenty of people that will speak up and complain about this posting. It's your money, not mine, buy a Hyundai Elantra if you want. I will drive a Honda Civic. Yea, they sound close don't they, so do the Chinese quads.

I’m not a dealer! And if you like driving a Honda, then you paid too much! Hyundai is a better-rated car than the Honda according to JD Powers.

The child will out grow the off the wall quad before if takes a dump.

Some people don’t have a lot of money for a Rolls but it will do the same as a Yugo just for transportation. Some people rater spend that extra money for Tommy Hill jeans but Levis will do just fine!

Flame on!
Just my $.02

LOL! That was a good one!

I’m not trying to flame anyone, just trying to make a point! There will always be a debate about Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge vs. Toyota vs. Nissan.

I’m just stating I have had ZERO problems with my $500 Chinese made quad! If it broke down tomorrow, I’d go out and buy 3 more and still be cheaper than a Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki or Suzuki 50cc / 70cc quad.

If you visit the Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki or Suzuki forums, you see that everyone has had some issues with their quads and not bullet proof like everyone thinks they are. I have owned all of the major 4 in 2, 3 & 4 wheels street & dirt and all have had their problems.

If you can perform the dealer prep yourself (which is not much) then the little Chinese quad will out last your growing 4, 5, 6 or 7 year old… If not, buy a new Chinese quad again and still come out smelling like a rose and money still in your wallet.

BTW, I didn’t even buy mine form John @ RacewayATV. I bought mine from a dealer in Oklahoma City and had it shipped to my house. I have dealt with John by e-mail a few times and see all his responses on this forum. That’s why I gave him a shameless plug.

If you like 2 strokes, I guess that would work. Just not my cup of tea for a starter quad. It will also be too big for the 4 year old.

My son has a Eton Viper 90 for over a year and half now and not one problem with it at all. It's been a great little quad for us.
