Default Has anybody used warn multimount for a winch?

Hi I have 2004 Rubicon and was looking at buying a Winch for it. I was told you want to install them as high as you can on your ATV. I see Montana Jacks has something like this and it does sit high but they want way to much money for their system ($400 and this does not inclued the winch). Warn has something too like this but I have yet to see any pic's on an ATV, so I want to know has anybody ever installed one, do you like it, and where or how high is it on your ATV?

One more thing, can you use a plow with this???? Montana Jacks you can but you need to purchase another piece thats about 100 bucks.

Thanks for your help......This is the best place to get information for your ATV.

Default Has anybody used warn multimount for a winch?

Hi I have a warn winch and I have a mount I have just sitting in a box for a 2003-2004 rubicon I had a 2003 and now I have a 2005 so if you would like to buy it I would sell it for $25 that is half of what I have in it I check this forum a couple of times a day so let me now. And I use my winch with my 60" plow
it works great. I think I have around five hundred into my winch and mount but that was two and a half years ago when the warn 3000 pound came out they were a lot more for them. I paid a lot more for the mount on my 2005 rubicon then on my 2003 to find prices you need to go to warn and do a dealer search to find a dealer neer you or go to www.highlifter.com they have every thing you need.
good luck

Thanks but I was looking for the Warn Multimount receiver.........you can move your Winch to front or back of your ATV.
I don't think thats the kind you have based on the price you paid. If I'm wrong let me know and I may buy it from you.

I have the Montana Jacks System but prior to that I had the warn system but returned it. If I remember right the back end mount put the top of the winch just about half way up on the door of the storage compartment which is the same on the MJ setup. The front warn mount came out the hole beneath the honeycomb grille, the MJ setup comes out through the grille so it sits about 6 inches orso higher.

At the time I was struggling with whether or not the Montana Jacks setup was worth the money or not and if I remember right the Warn kit was about half the price. Any way I bought the Warn but it just seemed the "MJ" setup was much heavier duty but I don't mean to imply that the Warn would'nt be strong enough because it probably is. I was also talking to someone on the internet at the time who had the Warn and it did fine for them. I did really like the way to front mount set up higher with Montana Jacks over the Warn but I'm certain the Warn would do fine. I also believe the Warn had to be bolted together and Montana Jacks is fully welded anyway thats the one I chose. With either setup it is nice when trail riding to be able to put the winch in the back to keep the weight off the front for lighter steering.

I have a 2004 Rubicon, and I have the Warn Multimount for it. I also bought the Warn 3.0 ce winch for it. I really like it a lot. I ride with the winch mounted in back, to reduce the weight in front and becasue it sticks out in front and can be damaged more easily. The only drawback I can find is that sometimes it's a pain to switch the winch...especially whn your deep in a mudhole, but I have found that if I am ever in a situation where I will need to winch myself out, then I will put it on the front. I have had no luck pulling myself out backwards sinch the hitch mounting plate always seems to dig in. But it really handy to have in back when you're winching someone else out. I also tried to put the factory bumber back on after I installed, but that seems to get more in the way when trying to put the winch on in front. I may have to modify the bumper a bit and cut away some pieces so things fit smoother.

Anyway, I think it's mounted high enough, I even think it's a little higher than the regular mount (on the inside of the frame), but that may just be an illusion.

And the back mount is not in the way of the rear storage box opening at all.

I don't see why you couldn't plow with this. In fact, I am planning on trying it out with my plow. I do have some concerns that the winch may stick out too far in front, but we will see. I still have a couple more weeks of riding before I switch to my plow setup.

Just remember, if you plan on plowing, switch your winch cable to a sacrificial piece (around 6 ft long). It will save your current cables life a lot.
