Default 1986 Yamaha Moto4 225 Shifting problems

I have an 86 Moto4 225 that is basically stuck in netural. The shift lever moves but does not put it in gear. Once in a while it will go into 1st but no other gears after that and its really hard to get back in neutral. This is a clutchless 5 speed with high and low range and reverse. Is this a big deal to fix and how much $ will it take ???? Thanks.

Is the spline (rod connecting to the shifter lever) actually turning when you shift it? Depends on what its doing. If the shift lever is loose and just sliding up and down on the spline without actually making it turn to shift gears, then either the small bolt in it needs to be tightened or the teeth inside the shift lever are worn out and not grabbing. If the spline is moving but not shifting, then thats an actual problem and beyond my advice.

The shift rod is tight on the shaft. The HI - LO- REV also is stuck in low.
Appreciate any help on this. THANKS
