I need to get a little more top speed out of my 06 DS. I was racing a stock pred. and a moded raptor this weekend. It seemed like 2nd and 3rd gears were real strong, but in 4th and 5th i was basically even with the pred. and the raptor would pull me pretty hard. I do weigh about 150 lbs more than the pred. rider. I dont know what mods the raptor has on it, but the top end was unbeleivable on that thing. I was prob. a coulple mph faster than the pred. top end. Is gearing the only way to get more top end without getting into the motor ?

 

a ported intake and carb will gain you power fromt bottom to top

 

Find a good carb and intake.

first I would strongly suggest reading the thread "stock carb mods" . Read the entire thread,and if you still feel you cant improve your stock carburation, then go ahead and spend the maney for a ported intake,and tm45 mikuni, or a 46mm lectron.
