Default SUNL 70cc Review

Just thought I'd share some insights of the SUNL 70 mini quad. Picked one up last week off ebay for $500.00 Put the battery in place under the seat, mounted the tires, put gas in the tank.....done.

Engine came delivered w/oil already in the crankcase. checked level-fine.
Tires came inflated at 15 psi-adjusted to sidewall recomended 4 psi.

Did a quick note/bolt check on vehicle...all seemed fine.

Now came time to fire it up.......after about 5 seconds of cranking it came to life. Let it idle a bit, check for leaks-none.

Adjusted the thumb throttle to limit throw for my kids til they get use to it.

Well, my 8 & 10 year old put about 40 hours of up and down backyard riding so far on this unit and have to say...I'm Impressed!

Unit packs one heck of a punch.

Rated at a max speed of 37 mph, my little GPS shows 43 MPH with ME (6' 230 lbs!) on it!

The only fault I've found with it is its width. It looks and feels like it could flip right over. but that may be just me!

I like the accessable throttle adjustment for limiting speed for first timers.

Unit came with a remote control key fob, but no directions on what button does what. What I did find with the remote is that you can turn the atv off while your kids ride it. It has a remote start feature and sure there are more but thats all I have figured out so far!

Like I said before, I'm very pleased with the construction, performance and bang for the buck! Feel free to ask any questions and will gladly respond!

Are there any companies out there making aftermarket larger wheels, sprockets, bumpers....ect for these mini quads?

I have been looking at little quads for my children. I have an 8 yr old, 5 yr old and a 3 yr old. Racewayatv online seems to be about the lowest price I've found for the Sunl models. They carry the 50 and the 90. If I were to get the 90 could it be goverened enough that the three yr old could ride it? Please let me know if you have any other suggestions for beginning quads and where you think the lowest price might be found. Thanks

Johnny1000, I wouldn't put a 3 y/o on a 90 no matter how it is governed. Most likely the controls are just going to be to big for that little body, and I have yet to meet a 3 y/o mature enough to handle one of these in an emergency situation. I wouldn't even trust my 3 y/o on a 50. My recommendation is start the 8 y/o riding, have the 5 and 3 y/o wait a bit longer. When they do start, make sure to get a machine that fits them well. I know you will get responces saying my 3 y/o rides a XYZ 90 and has never had a problem. That is great for them, but if one of my kids ever got hurt or heaven forbid the other, I would be devastated. Not to mention that depending on local laws, the parents might be in trouble for endangering the welfare of a child etc.

Yeah...what LT80 says.....Power Wheels. My son, who is 7 now, rode the devil out of a battery powered Powerwheel atv. He "honed" his driving skills on that thing at age 3 and 4. Just in the past two months I have purchased him a TRX 90 and he amazes me at how well he drives the thing.

There would be no way I would have put him on a gasoline powered atv at age 3....even 4 or 5! When he turned 6, he did ride in front of me on a Kodiak I used to own and I let him work the throttle......with the limit screw run all the way in.

Well, it has ben a couple of weeks now....have to say...this quad is great!!! My kids are learning and learing more and more about driving and handling of a quad! The quad just needs a wider track width and some more height. Have to see If I can find some bigeer wheels and tires.

FNA,
I may have a set of wheel spacers for the front if you are interested. Let me know. Is the front a 3 lug design?

O MY GOD, A 3 YEAR OLD ON ANY ATV? THAT'S JUST INSANE.

I have the Sunl 50 and 90. They are a blast.

check out www.whitelighteningpowersports.com for a good price.

My only recent complaint is that the battery seems a bit weak for starting the 90, or could be it's just defective. I haven't found a good source for buying those tiny gel batteries yet.
