Default Sprocket size for trail riding and climbing?

I got a KFX 400 that seems to be geared a little high for hill climbing. Most of the guys i have talked to say 2nd gear is the gear to do it in. Seems that mine is geared a little high in 2nd and too low in first to climb the steep hills. I think stock in the front is 14. May try a 13 if you guys think that would be best. Not really concerned with losing 2-4 mph up top. What would this swap involve? I was thinking maybe just removing 1 link from the chain??

What's up Orange?

I have the same question. I do not own a KFX as of yet but I plan on purchasing one. I've done lot's of research on the KFX to ensure it's the bike for me. Some of my research (and posts on this website) state that they went with a 13 tooth on the front. This seemed to solve their issue with 2nd gear.

I figure I'll do my own research once I purchase; however, it's already in the back of my mind to get a 13 tooth just on my research.

Anyone with real experience want to comment? It would be very helpful to Orange and I.

Thanks!

Yah, I just got Kawie Monday. I love it. I am a very inexperienced rider but can tell already it is very versitlle. Mine may be for sale if you are in the market for one. Not sure as of yet but maybe.

Well, i dont know how much time i am gonna have to ride it. I am not really sure if i would sell it. Just have to wait and see. Im going riding Sunday with some friends. Cant wait to tackle some of the hills.

It has plenty of low end i mean it comes up in second EASY just rolling and giving it 1/2 throttle but i think the lower gear will make it better for climbing hills. I dont know, like i said im new to all this. My hobby has always been drag racing my mustang.
