I am looking to get a new GPS, but know nothing about them. What are some good GPS's in the $100-$200 range? Thanks in advance!

Garmin makes a decent GPS, I have one from them, and it has 8MB or RAM so I can store entire Topo Maps on it with landmarks, or take up to 60 some way points to track my route. It has a compass and gives accurate speed readings. I paid like $229 for it 6 months ago. They don't make that model any more, but I know that a bunch of people on the forum have the Garmin Etrek, it's gotta be good. Just go to http://www.garmin.com

Garmin GPS 12 great unit will do all you need it to do $147.00 at Wall Mart. There are more Features on some of the high end modells but unless your navigating the space shuttle its not really neccesary. And your looking at big bucks. Make sure you get the video tape that goes with the specific unit you buy or you will be tearing your hair out trying to figure these things out its another 10.00 bucks. and get a handle bar mount from Cabbellas $35.00. The Garmin GPS 12 is waterproof to like 10 feet submerged. Can not be used on your Trident Nuclear Submarine, I guess if you could afford one of those babys you could afford a Navigator. Hambone

Just like Hambone noted, I found the best deal after alot of footwork @ Walmart. Same thing: Get the video!! I found the gas tank mount works better for more aggresive riding and is protected better when your machine gets upside down. I spent alot of time trying to figure out how to use the damn thing until I just took it out and used it.

Just went through this myself...Asked this forum and overwhelmingly they said the Garmin Etrex...After doing more research I decided on the Etrex and am happy with my choice. It does everything needed to go exploring on an atv anywhere on earth. Its small, and its INEXPENSIVE! Paid just 98.99 at Wal-Mart on sale last friday. Got to use it this weekend and simply made my starting point, drove 44 miles making rights, lefts, up, down and then turned around and it took me right back to the truck.. Then I found out I traveled 88.6 miles at an average speed of 23 mph and a max speed of 70.1 mph. Useless info but nice to know. Unless you want to road maps this is the unit to own. Just me 4 3/8ths' cents ; )

I really like the ETrex. For mild ATV use it seems to work great. The Etrex Summit is really nice too. It has an electric compass built in so you don't have to be moving to know what direction you are pointing(don't know if its worth the extra dough though). I liked the display on the ETrex better then any of the others under $200.

Ursus, can you tell me what you did for a custom gps mount. I have the handlebar mount from them and its just not holding up. Had to send it for repair already so when it returns I want to try a different mount.
