Grass Drags, which tires?

Shotgun,
Do you like the 4-snows better than the stockers and your over grown sled pulling tires? I have seen good hook up on 26inch XTR Radials ITP brand not sure of the weight but they hooked very well.

Alltoys,
Yes I like the 4-snows for dirt, they are light and hook well.
I posted wondering what others use for grass. Not sure if they are the best for that.
My pulling tires are heavy, but the hook well.

of all my tires, my 22" X 11" X 9" GBC Schredders are my choice for grass... lots of biting edges... IMO, they hook up better than anything else I have... probably next would be my set of ATR's... but they are 25", & the Schredders are way quicker, being shorter...

Newbeatle,
If memory serves me right, didn't you use those short tires at a pull at one of the first 12 hour races in Iowa? Or was it a Hare Scramble? Either way you did rather well almost taking the top honours on a stock machine being no BBK. Didn't you beat PW's 785 that day? There was a lot of laughs going your way at the beginning untill you started to pull then the laughs changed to words of amazement!!

actually at that pull my wife had the Schredders on the rear of our 300 Prairie, & it pulled 3rd place in the open 4 X 4 class just behind the modified "big" Prairies only 5 feet behind PRAIRIEWRENCHE's 785, & 10 feet behind a modified 700 Prairie with Pit Bull 2's ( a specialized pulling tire )...
... & Rex had just gotten the BBK installed, but since it didn't have any time on it yet, I only pulled in the 2wd class during break in, with a set of 22" X 12.5" x 9" TSL's on the rear... & had no trouble winning the 2wd class, just a few days out of the hospital after a bad MC accident...

Shotgun,
FWIW, I've experienced excellent traction on grass and hard pack surfaces using the stock rear 22" Holeshot Tires off a V-force. However, these same tires are lousy for traction in soft dirt! If you are looking for drag race tires, these are not a bad choice b/c they are 11" wide and have lots of lugs for biting the grass. However, there might be better choices out there b/c these 22" Holeshots are not light weight at all.
PS - I just sold those 22" holeshots and installed a set of 22" Gators...I'm hoping they will do better in soft dirt (for my XC races).
Good luck and Happy trails...

Newbeatle,
Yep that was how it happened you and your wife did pretty well. Mind you, you had extra weight with the cast on your leg, lol. Your wife's 300 did very well against the big boys shows how a good lauch will make up a lot of ground.
Mikey,
Have you ever raced 300 feet with 22 inch tires? Somehow I can't see those small diameter tires surviving top speed run against 25 or 26 inch tires.
