I would say your next steps would be carb, filter, and CDI. That should get you past it.

I think my biggest gains came from the TM45. Keep in mind the 450r weight is significantly less then the DS. To be real competitive you will need to do Cams, Carb, CDI and pipe not to mention you may want to swap the front sprocket to a 15T if your running 22's.

Besides, there will always be someone faster then you so just enjoy the ride and don't put so much emphasis on who's faster.

outrun where? on the sand? on a track? flat drags?

If on a track, there might be afew people who disagree with me, but yes, a 450 is set up better than a DS to rrun on a track

if it was sand, or a straight away, then something is wrong. he maybe could get the jump on you at the beginning, but, with your mods, you should at least be able to reel him in.

I agree....we need to know what kind of racing your doing against these 450's. Its not rocket science...its power to weight ratio...it seems that is very hard to accept now days. Let us know what kind of racing then we can go from there. I can tell you from experience with just a pipe, carb & cdi...it will be a totally different outcome for most 450's....in a drag race to say the least.
