Default Question about maxxis tires (Bighorn or mudlites) and stock rims

I was thinking of getting Maxxis Bighorns or mudlites for my Brute Force 750. I want to keep the same size as stock. Will either of these tires fit on the stock rims or do you have to buy new rims?? I know this question might sound stupid to some, but every person I see on this forum that has either of these tires also has the upgraded wheels. Is it necessary to get the rims for these tires? Is it a weight issue of the stock rims vs. the aftermarket rims? or can you just use the plain old stock wheels???

Yeah as far as I know if you are going with the same size Horns they should fit stock rims, but before you buy take a look at the GBC Dirt Tamers. They have the same tread pattern as the Horns but are lighter and cheaper

So far the wheels are holding up real well , a couple of scrapes but I guess that can't be helped. Since you're from Pa you know how tough those rocks are up there on wheels. They beat my stock rims up so bad I had to get these new ones . I got a deal on the whole set-up $550 mounted and delivered to my door. That's weird the word tough creates a link to Polaris LMAO

Jamakn, if you are interested I'll turn you on to the guy I got mine from. I saw that his ebay store is still there. And he has good prices on that too

Man this is funny,I was just getting ready to post a question about these very tires.I was thinking about getting the Bighorns to try and get a better ride.My main question is how do they hold up to rocks? It seems to me I saw along time ago where gusy said that they got alot of side wall punctures.....is that true and for those that have them did you notice a real diff in how the quad rode?

Yes, you can put the BigHorns on stock rims. I just bought a new King Quad and the dealer installed the BigHorns on my stock rims. I love the tires so far, very smooth and stable. I only have 100 mile on so far and I am not that hard on tires, mostly wooded trails and riverbottoms. But I can recommend them.

Default Question about maxxis tires (Bighorn or mudlites) and stock rims

I have Bighorns on my BF750 with Maxxis 4x4 wheels, the whole thing shipped to my door was 570.....changed the ride completely. I love the new tires. Likewise riding in PA has dinged up my front wheels some but not that much. The whole package definatley weighs more than stock.

Well my stock rims are not new looking to say the least.I do ride in Ky and Hatfield/Mccoy alot and there are alot of rocks there on the trails I ride.I am just concerned about flats.
