SP800 Owners- How They Holding Up?
#2
when i sold mine, i had owned it for a total of 11 1/2 months, put 750 miles on it and 40 hours, never had a problem with it once other than a defective belt blew at 350 miles. there stout strong machines, and the only quad that has anything on it is the BRP800, and all it is is speed and weight.
you cant go wrong with it

900 plus miles on right now, bought in April 05. 2 problems I had, very hard shifting with the engine running-I aligned the clutches and cured that. The other was bar shake at speeds above 25, new front tires and proper static and dynamic wheel balancing (done by me) cured that. Another bonehead setup is the vent hose connecting the valve cover to the airbox, they previously had some issues in cold weather with moisture freezing up that line blocking it off, their genious cure was to cut a slit in the hose at the engine fitting so oil vapor can blow all over. I sealed the hose up and drilled out the tiny hole in the airbox much larger so it will breathe better. Other than that it's a great machine, I'd buy another....

I have only had mine a month, 5.6 hours,45 miles. I love it. I am about 300 lbs. and from a stand still, the front end will come straight up when goosed. Very impressive. I think the dealer has alot to do with a good experience also. I got a '05, so Polaris doubled the 6 mo. warranty. My dealer offers a 4 year extended that mirrors the factory for $649. Plus, I have a 5 yr service agreement that follows Polaris recommended service schedule, that I purchased for $750. Be advised that the first service(10 hrs) will be about $350. The dealer says that it is neccesary to maintain warranty. Not for me, because I got the service plan. LOL!!! I could have gotten a much smaller engine(500), but lets face it, were guys(some of us) and that means that bragging rights is always at stake!

I've had mine for 6 months and it has 350 km. (~ 220 miles) and 23 hours on it.
Haven't serviced it yet (should probably consider that soon), since I don't have any dealers around in my area of the World.
No problems at all, except that I found a clear tube on my garage floor one day (red paint in the end). Believe it is the battery vent, which was never used as I have a third party battery installed. It came without, since I couldn't import via airfreight with gas, oil and battery in the Polaris.
I get about 62 miles to a tank, which is not a lot consdering gas prices at $ 7.25 /gallon.
Oh yeah, and I have those squecking noises from the rear suspension, which are a little annoying.
RIDE HARD!

Last december, about 600 mile. I had the melted plastic, And replaced the wheel bearing on the brake side in the rear. I also had a shifter fort break and it would not go into high gear. I use mine very hard and It is holding up very good. I would buy another one.

You know what I think MT. It sounds like they've screwed over another brand loyal customer with your 500. I think the Outlaw will prove to be just as Junk. My 800 is. 850 miles about a problem per 100 mi.

thanks for the responses.
yes, i have had problems with my 500EFI. i have a lot of mixed feelings. maybe swap it for an 800, maybe get it fixed and keep it, maybe swap it for the new Honda Rincon700EFI, or maybe keep it and buy a second ATV (800 or Honda)
i just don't know right now. going to the Dealer Wed with the 500EFI for repairs.....
we'll see!
