When you first took the shaft out of the differential, did it have the proper resistence?
If it did, then I would wonder if the replacement parts are wrong. Possibly too short?

Thanks for your help itstillruns and Idahovinnie, the differential is ok. when i put it together the first time and rode it all that happened was i seen where the shaft was out of the differential about an inch. 4 wheel drive worked ok, also when i tore it down the first time i had a really hard time getting the shaft out of the diff so im thinking like Idahovinnie maybe the shaft is to short. I would test this ideal if i could get the left side out i've tried but with no luck. I browed a slide hammer from a friend it didn't have the right ends on it keeps pulling off the yoke.I guess Iwill end up taking it to the shop, If yall have anymore ideals please post. Thanks again for your help

Different models (year) different length shafts better double check. when measuring check compressed length and uncompressed. Take care!!

On the end of the splined shaft is a groove for a snap ring,is that ring on?. To get the other side off, use a large pry bar or screwdriver stick it in between the U-joint and yoke and pry outward against frame should release with a little effort and some PB Blaster or Wd40 when you reassemble, a little anti-sieze is agood idea Good luck.
