DS650 Rev Limit?
#1
I have MSD adjustable Ignition. My power peak with the HPR730 seems to be about 7300 or so. Where should I set my rev limit to minimize stress on motor but to provide sufficient overrev for hill racing?

I ride on the Oregon Coast mostly so the racing I do is on Hills. These DS's have fairly wide ratio gears so I find myself dropping too low in the rpm range when I shift. It killed me when I had web109's. Obviously I need some overrev but I don't want to hurt my motor.

Yeah, 8000-8200 really shouldnt hurt a thing with that build. I know those 12 paddles will kill you on the hill. They will get you out the hole pretty quick on the flats though,

I have been running 10 paddle 22" extreme's but when we installed the 730 kit and the HPR Cams, the massive low end was causing me to blow out traction starting in second. It would blow out again when I shifted into third. I am going out tomorrow to try the 12 paddle to see if I can get some traction. Off subject on my own thread but any thoughts?

Well, your running a pretty low gearing considering the hp & torque that your making. I would run the 12's first with the gearing that your running now and then change to the 10's with say a 16/40 and see what happens. I think you will be able to pull them...but its according to how big ah boy are ya,

Well, there is no doubt that more paddle is going to kill you on the top. Especially running the hill. I really think the 10's with a higher gearing will be the ticket. I run the 10 paddle extremes on the flats and I wouldnt have enough power to pull them up a hill.
