2006 Kawasaki Brute Force 650 4x4

The 2006 Kawasaki Brute Force 650 4x4 kicks butt. I just bought one yesterday in camo Real Tree color. The front end will raise on this sucker on the road. If you want sheer power and torque this is the one! It has a CVT belt driven transmission. It sounds like the engine is revving high at about 35 miles and hours but man once you punch it it goes even faster. I had it up to 50 and it wanted to go quicker. I took it up and down some steep southern Indiana hills and it tore over the hills like they were nothing......Thumbs up!!!

i just got mine home minutes ago. BF 650i camo. i can't wait to run it. i think the poor lil suzuki is gonna be my loaner, but it has taken me to 10,000 feet elevation more times than i can count.
gotta start putting togather a tool kit now. i'm gonna run the stock tires till i tear one up then go with Bighorns or the like. i like the Gators on the lil suzuki, but something a liittle less aggressive seems appropriate for the 650. (higher road speeds).
BF650guy, is yours the I model? what do you have planned for mods?

Can you confirm for us whether or not the 4x4 engages instantaneously when envoked, or does the bike have to move a few feet before engaging? Also, is it in both forward and reverse, or only forward? A friend of mine, who used to have a BF750, claims his bike would not engage the 4x4 until it rolled several feet in a forward motion. He also claims that it would never engage in a reverse motion. Another friend, who I just spoke with a few minutes ago and who owns a P700, claims that his bike is different in that it engages immediately in both forward and reverse.
I physically looked at a new 2006 BF650i earlier today, and I think it is a very impressive machine. I would even consider one, along with the Grizz, 2006 Rincon, and 2006 KQ, if I know that the 4x4 engages immediately as does the Grizz and KQ.

I just got it so I am not to sure about the IRS yet. Sorry but I do not know what an OTD is? I am a newbie at this lingo. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

To be honest I have not really had to kick it into 4 wheel drive yet. But I will let ya know as soon as I get back on it.

It's not the ,"i model", it's just the 650 model camo. I gotta tell ya though for a 4x4 it is quick. I am used to riding my dad's yamaha kodiak 400 "older model", and it the Brute Force puts it to shame. I really like it. It's still on the first 10 hours of ride time so I can only go 1/2 throttle. But I had it up to 55 mph for a couple of seconds. I cannot wait to tackle the dirt and mud.

IRS = Independant Rear Suspension (I don't think you have it which isn't good or bad, just depending on where you ride and what you want to do with it)

I moved to AR from So. Cal and the difference is like night and day. In CA I could buy a brand new bike for $100 over COST with my employee discount. Here in AR they sell them to EVERYBODY for roughly $200 to $300 over cost. WELL below MSRP. We also have to compete with Abernathys in TN.
