Default chinese quad vin/serial numbers

Has anyone else looked at the numbers on there chinese quads. I've been wondering if these
serial/vin numbers are real or are these companies just making them up. The first three digits of a vin
is the world manufacturer index. My kawasaki and arctic cat have valid info, JKB and 4UF. The yamoto I have
for my daughter has W1N. As far as I know W is reserved for german made vehicles. So I'm guessing they have just
made up there number, unless the quad was built in germany.

In my state the serial/vin number is not used for anything other than getting your yearly permit so you can use the quad on public land.
i'm just curious if anyone else has looked at these numbers

I have always thought that the W1N on the Yamoto quads VIN was actually the beginning of a made up chinese VIN that incorporated Yamoto's old importer Winspeed Motorsport's first three letters. (WIN).
