Hey guys,my 2000 ds oil lite been staying on after the quad sits in the garage for a month or so!The lite will stay on for a while no noise from low oil pressure heard, goes off after a few minutes of riding,then it won't come on again,till it sits again!!!Any pointers??[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

Possibly a sending unit going bad? If it's like a car, you could pull the sending unit and install a pressure gage to see exactly what the pressure actually is.

 

did you try an oil change

 

Do a search on "oil tank screen"

if you don't already know the DS has a fine screen in the oil-tank,and after a while it can get clogged,and starve the engine and very bad things can happen.. Your problem does sound like your oil sending unit is flakey , and installing a oil-pressure gauge is pretty simple, BUT you need to check your screen in you oil-tank ASAP! do the search for instructions.

how do you install that oil pressure gauge bigger..

 

You unscrew the original oil pressure sending unit from the engine. You then screw in an adapter hose that has an oil pressure gage on the other end of it. Start engine and see what the oil pressure actually is.
