Default rev box

A couple of weeks ago I installed a "punisher" rev box and apparently it killed by battery. When I rode the bike it ran great until I shut the bike off and let it sit for about an hour. Went to restart it and the batt. was dead. Has anyone used this rev box with the same results. ACEISBACK, Thanks for the help with this site.

Hey cynick,
I saw that rev box but held off as I had never heard of the brand.
Can't really help you but I have learned my lesson as far as CDI's go.
Buy cheep ... get cheep.....may be some thing else though...
I would try to put the old CDI back on and charge up the battery and see how she goes.

Thank you for your help I don't suggest that one it made the battery take a dump so I did put the stock one back on and got a new battery and so far so good. I would like a link to a good one if you know of one and how do the big gun ones work. They are cheaper but I haven't heard any bad about them let me know and thanks for the reply.

how can i say this.................................VORTEX CDI

please save your self the headache..you already cost yourself a battery and that was lucky usually its worse...

so you have money in a battery and a crappy cdi.. if you would have put that money toward a real cdi you would have almost had enuogh...its not your fault most poeple go through this chain of events...luckily it only cost you a battery

ofcourse there are other cdi but never a bad thing with the vortex and it has 10 programmable curves at your finger tips..good luck

Cynick another thing to consider is future mods.
If you do anything to you DS you will probable be hitting the rev limiter pretty quick.
Ron Woods make a CDI that basically eliminates the rev limit for around $300, or you can find a used one cheaper. I thinks Sam had one for sale, maybe still does??

Heard many good things about the vortex as well if you want to keep the rev limit.

As ChiroChris is telling you, you get what you pay for.

Good luck!

I hear ya,
I just wish these guys would make a good product that does what it claims to do for a resonable price. The difference from 100 to 300+ bills.
Curious if you even get 3 horse out if it on a DYNO at 100 per horse !
I hear you ... speed costs money how fast do you want to spend it.
Do a search on CDI's on this forum and read on .....

vortex is 400 but worth it....save for it and get it..

you could ask santa ,he may be delivering in your area--lol

do a search on the vortex and youwill find all the curves and what they are for, you will be amazed

things like--drag curves, trail curves..etc.etc all at your fingers

I have had really good luck with my MSD Ignition. I seem to be the only one around using it though. I bought it through TVI for $450
